This is the second book in the Throne of Glass series.
I read the first book in the series in August 2014 and I did not like it that much (here's my review). But I was expecting something different for Throne of Glass and it did not meet my expectations, that's why I did not enjoy it that much. For Crown of Midnight, it was different though because I wasn't expecting anything. I picked this up because I wanted to learn what happen to Celaena. And I liked it very much! It was better than the first book, there was more action and the romance was better developed than in the first one. Celaena was less annoying (because I had found here really annoying in the first book), I love Chaol even more than in the first book and I begin to like Dorian as well. There is a lot of stuff going on in this book, and that's why I did not want to stop reading.
